Child & Adolescent Therapy
Mental health is a crucial focus at all stages of life, however it’s particularly important to build a strong foundation in childhood and throughout the teenage years. This is the key to the wellbeing and healthy development of a child, and good mental health can help them to deal with challenges, feel good about themselves, adapt to change, and build healthy relationships with others.
-
Children are most at risk of mental health issues between the ages of 12 to 16, so it’s important to seek help for those who are struggling as early as possible.
In Australia, around 1 in 7 children and adolescents aged 4 to 17 have recently experienced a mental health disorder. This is why I am so passionate about providing psychology services to support young people.
-
I recognise that, just like adults, children and teenagers can commonly experience mental health challenges, particularly as their brains and bodies are still developing. It is easy for young people to struggle to articulate their emotions or what’s wrong to their parents or caregivers, so it’s important to seek help from someone who specialises in child psychology or teenage psychology to understand their behaviour.
-
I have extensive experienced in helping children and adolescents to overcome their mental health difficulties in a wide range of areas, with a special interest in ADHD and trauma:
Anxiety and stress
Grief and Loss
Trauma, Depression
Adjustment, Separation
ADHD, Autism
Sexuality and Gender Diversity
Self-Esteem and Confidence
School Issues, Managing Emotions
Adult Therapy
I believe that everyone can overcome life’s challenges with the right support, which is why reaching out to a psychologist can be an important step in improving your mental health. I am passionate about supporting you to make long-lasting and meaningful change by providing a safe, warm, and supportive environment.
-
As part of therapy I am here to help you develop tools and coping strategies that help you move through stressful situations, break through your unhealthy limiting patterns or behaviours, gain a better understanding of yourself, learn to make better choices and to experience great connection and fulfilment in your closest relationships.
